Some of the biggest websites in Turkey(including sahibinden.com, Dogan online, Turkish Economy Bank and yemeksepeti.com) were planning to use our tool but almost no investor in Turkey was investing in anything that wasn't e-commerce-related at the time.
We learned from an investor from Europe -who was acting like he was interested in investing in us- that he had invested in a competitor called walkme.com a month prior(he told this after he noted down our product ideas and vision for the product and its future, as you can probably guess). They were based in Israel which has a really good tech scene and they were growing healthily. We didn't have a chance at competing with them and I got a really offer from Udemy so I decided to move to San Francisco.
walkme.com ended up raising $15M more capital and they ended up moving to San Francisco, 2 blocks away from the Udemy office I was working at :)
